Makos Stay Perfect Against Moccasins with 23-13 Road Win
Jacksonville, FL – September 6
In sweltering 90-degree heat with a steady breeze swirling through Terry Parker Stadium, the Lighthouse College Makos proved once again they own their rivalry with Jacksonville AA Christian College. In their third meeting in two years, the Makos fought off the Moccasins 23-13, improving their head-to-head record to 3-0.
The tone was set early by defensive standout Deonte Reinhardt, who jumped a passing lane and raced 53 yards for a first-quarter pick-six. Reinhardt wasn’t done—he also came up with a game-sealing interception in the end zone, shutting down Jacksonville’s late comeback attempt. His performance not only keyed the Makos’ victory but also earned him New South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Special teams added to the early surge as kicker Logan Roberts drilled a 42-yard field goal, giving Lighthouse momentum and a two-score cushion by the end of the opening quarter.
The offense found its rhythm in the second quarter when quarterback Chase Ray connected with wide receiver Troy Medlin for a touchdown. Ray finished the day with 131 passing yards, spreading the ball effectively to keep the Moccasins off balance. Medlin was his top target, hauling in five receptions for 59 yards.
In the second half, it was Jamarkus Jefferson who took over. The freshman back pounded away on the ground with 20 carries for 124 yards and a touchdown, wearing down the Moccasin defense and controlling the pace of the game.
Defensively, the Makos delivered a complete performance. In addition to Reinhardt’s heroics, Dejai Smith snagged another interception, while the pass rush produced two sacks—one each from Bryce French and Paul Gatley. The unit completely shut down Jacksonville in the second half, surrendering zero points after halftime and holding the Moccasins to just 98 rushing yards for the game.
While Jacksonville clawed back with a pair of scores before the break, Lighthouse’s defense stiffened when it mattered most, slamming the door on any comeback hopes.
The victory pushes the Makos’ rivalry dominance to a perfect 3-0 and provides another confidence boost as they continue their 2025 campaign.
Next up, South Florida Technical College will travel to Gulf Breeze Stadium for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, September 20.
