Makos Open with Statement Win, Set Sights on Jacksonville Showdown
The Lighthouse College Makos launched their 2025 season in commanding style, steamrolling the South Georgia Institute of Technology Huskies with a 37-0 shutout victory. The roaring home crowd witnessed a complete performance that proved Lighthouse is ready to make noise this season.
Offensively, the Makos spread the wealth and delivered with precision. Jamarkus Jefferson led the way with two touchdowns, while Troy Medlin, Brenden Hall, and Jaxson Fillmore also finding the end zone once. Kicker Logan Roberts added a field goal, capping off a flawless scoring effort. Every possession showcased execution, timing, and confidence, leaving South Georgia’s defense scrambling.
On the other side of the ball, Lighthouse’s defense and special teams set the tone with relentless pressure and opportunistic plays. The defensive unit recovered two fumbles, while special teams added two more recoveries, creating momentum-shifting takeaways that buried the Huskies’ chances. The pass rush was equally disruptive, with Kabron Purifoy and Bryce French recording key sacks to keep the South Georgia quarterback under constant duress. Tackling was sharp, coverage was airtight, and the Huskies never found a rhythm.
The fans fed off the energy, turning the home stadium into a wall of sound that lifted the Makos from kickoff to the final whistle. It was more than just a win—it was a celebration of preparation, unity, and pride.
Now, Lighthouse turns its attention to a tougher test: a road trip to Jacksonville, Florida, where they’ll face the Jacksonville AA Christian College Moccasins. Known for their physicality and toughness on their home field, the Moccasins will challenge the Makos to replicate their dominant formula away from home.
With momentum building and a statement victory already secured, Lighthouse is eager to prove that their success isn’t confined to their home turf. All eyes now shift to Jacksonville, where the Makos aim to keep their perfect start alive and continue carving out their 2025 campaign.
